- *** MACROMAKER ***
- Macro-maker for the Atari Portfolio built-in editor
-
- Tired of typing the same thing over and over on the Port? Wish you had a
- way to insert a macro? Well, now you do!
-
- MacroMaker can take a text file and turn it into a macro to be used with
- the Port's editor. The program uses a new technique called a hook to access
- a special feature of the editor that makes this possible.
-
- The real meat of the package is the file called MACRO.HOO. That's the
- program. Here's how to use it:
-
- First, at least MACRO.HOO and MACRO.DES need to be in the ROOT directory
- of a RAM card in the A: drive. They can't be on the C: drive or in a
- subdirectory.
-
- Go into the Portfolio's built-in editor (type app /e or use the fuji-e
- combination). Then, when your cursor is at the place where you'd like to
- insert your macro, type Fn-6 (function key six). This will bring up a
- menu of .HOO files (you'll probably just have the one). Hit enter, and
- viola! Your macro is inserted in the text.
-
- As you can see, the included macro is my name and address, which probably
- isn't what you want. Here's how to get a new one.
-
- Using any editor (the Port's will do nicely), type up to 255 characters,
- including carriage returns and anything else that you want to be in your
- macro. Then, end the macro with TWO astericks **. See the file MACRO.TXT
- for an example of this.
-
- Then, run the program MACRO.EXE from the command line (on either a PC or
- the Port, it doesn't matter). This will create the macro file MACRO.DES,
- which contains the finished product for use with the editor. MACRO.EXE
- uses MACRO.TXT as the default in-file; just hit enter if that's the name
- you want to use.
-
- This version, the unregistered shareware version, has only one macro. The
- registered version can use up to 10 macros. Future versions will allow
- much higher numbers (unlimited?).
-
- How do you get the registered version? Two ways:
